A float switch is a device used to sense the level of liquid within a tank. It may actuate a pump, an indicator, an alarm, or other devices. It can be used in various settings such as hydroponics, saltwater/freshwater tanks, gardening, aquariums, pet bowls, filtration systems, heating systems, pumps, ponds, and more.

Most float switches operate with a magnetic reed switch to open or close the circuit. The float encases a sealed magnet, which moves up and down the stem as the fluid level changes. As the magnet passes by the contacts in the reed switch, they complete the circuit between the lead wires, allowing for accurate liquid level sensing.

Float switches are versatile and can be used in household equipment like overhead water tanks and water purifiers. They can also be integrated into various projects and systems with ease. Please note that due to the limited current capacity (0.5A), it is essential to use a relay or contactor when connecting to a load (not included).

Applications:

Household equipment such as overhead water tanks, water purifiers. Ideal for hydroponics, aquariums, pet bowls, filtration systems, or customized projects.

The operation of the float switch can be reversed by inverting the float, allowing for flexibility in circuit set-up. Float switches are designed for long-lasting performance, with the ability to withstand millions of on/off cycles when used correctly.
